South African debutants AmaZulu earned their maiden victory with a 1-0 result against Guinea’s Horoya as the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group phase rolled into match day two on Friday.
For their first ever appearance in the competition, Amigo Memela’s beautiful 31st minute goal proved all the difference.

Veteran midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala’s future at AmaZulu is already written on the wall as he is expected to depart upon the end of this season.
Tshabalala hasn’t had it his way at AmaZulu, who he joined last October after spending over a year without a club after his return from a season long spell in Turkey.
The 36-year-old has totalled just 65 minutes in the two appearances that he has made at AmaZulu since arriving in Durban last year.
His first was a seven-minute run against Golden Arrows in Benni McCarthy’s game in charge in December and he was then handed a start against Black Leopards in the Nedbank Cup at the end of February but couldn’t last an hour.
