Tim Matthews is the Curator of the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed. This means he oversees all day to day activities of the museum as well as in helping acquire items for the collection, negotiates deals, coordinates deliveries and trips to pick up donated or purchased items, helps plan events and Cars and Coffee speakers and manages the rest of the Museum Staff plus so much more! Tim set time aside to talk to me about the museum and the HBO Documentary series The Lady and the Dale. If you are unfamiliar about the documentary, it delves into the life of Liz Carmichael and the Twentieth Century Motor Car Corporation.
The Lady and the Dale on HBO: Did the Dale Car Ever Go on Sale?

The Inventor. This time, the series tells the story of entrepreneur Geraldine Elizabeth Carmichael, who in the 1970s made waves in the car industry with her Dale Car. According to her, the car operated 100 percent electronically, was nearly impossible to tip over and could withstand a 30 miles an hour collision into a wall without real damage all for under $2,000.
If this three-wheeled car sounds too good to be true, that is because it was and Carmichael was not who she claimed to be. Assigned male at birth, she was wanted on counterfeiting charges from the time before she transitioned.
Then, it all came crashing down. I knew something wasn t right for sure just because I couldn t really put too much pressure on (my left knee), Glass said. But for the first week, I didn t even know that (my left ACL) was torn, and our trainers were telling me that it might have been something with my hamstring. I didn t find out until about a week later when I took an MRI. That s when they told me.
Glass said he sustained his season-ending knee injury after catching a pass and planting awkwardly in a Week 6 win at LaPorte on Sept. 25. He walked off the field under his own power thinking he would return, but when it was confirmed that Glass high school football career was over, he was heartbroken.
