While in school, Paz wrote opinion columns for the Montana Kaimin regarding Native issues in Montana and beyond.    In years to come, when we discuss the insurrection and breach of the U.S. Capitol, we must remember to include the events of Black Lives Matter and Standing Rock.  The differences between these events are the latest and greatest of America’s story, told against a backdrop of genocide, slavery, racism, classism, separation and inequality. You cannot tell the truth of the United States without these things. You most certainly cannot discuss the occupation of the Capitol without also talking about how it was allowed to happen, thanks to our country’s commitment to white supremacy.
