157 years ago, hundreds of Arapaho and Cheyenne Natives were murdered along Sand Creek. Indigenous Coloradans reflect on importance of learning about the massacre.
If corporations can have First Amendment rights, why can’t dirt claim eminent domain?
A relaxing walk was interrupted by the groaning of dirt. A drainage pipe revealed deep wounds of erosion.
A story from far away returned to challenge and confuse me. Some land in Ecuador appeared unused. A corporation was given rights to this area. In reality, the ground was being farmed in a sustainable way. Some valleys, depending on rainfall, were allowed to rest for a year. It made sense to the Indigenous tribe, not to the government or the eager corporation.
If supposedly unused land can be snatched away for the benefit of a corporation, why can’t misused soil be snatched away for the good of dirt?
