Read Article 100 Years Ago: 1921 The American Committees for the Devastated Franco is looking for women chauffeurs to carry on the work in the Department of the Aisne. An opportunity for the most interesting adventure of her life, as well as for service in a field where there is a desperate need, is offered to any girl who can drive a Ford car, understands the principles of gas engines, and is free to volunteer for six months service overseas. Since the Armistice, the committee has established seven centers for relief work and special service in the north of France. At Soissons, at Rheims, Anizy-le-Chateau, Cours Le-Château, Chavignon, Vic-sur-Aisne, and Blerancourt there are groups of from ten to fifteen American and English girls who are carrying medical care into the field, taking wounded and sick from village to hospital, and supplies of food, clothing, livestock and other necessities to the dugouts and huts of two hundred villages and hamlets.
