Apr 16, 2021 LAURIUM James Gherna, 91, a resident of Laurium, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Omega House in Houghton. He was born on February 24, 1930, in Calumet to Victor and Angelina (Colombo) Gherna. Jim attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School. Following high school, Jim enlisted with the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1950. Jim worked for American Cablevision, Bresnen, and Mercy Ambulance. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. On February 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Edith “Marie” Koskiniemi in Calumet, she preceded him in death in 2012.
