(Sioux, IA) A woman from Sioux City will represent the country at this year s summer Olympics. Shelby Houlihan could become the first American woman to win a medal in the 5,000 meter run or first to win gold in the 15-hundred meters. Houlihan already holds records for the two events in the U.S. WHO-13 reports she has been training in Oregon since after the Tokyo Olympics were postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Houlihan still holds the Iowa state high school record in the 1500 meters, was a 12-time All American at Arizona State University, and she finished 11th at the Rio Olympics in 2016 in the 5,000 meter event.
