Military Veterans Tee it Up at PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup to Kickoff 2021 PGA Championship Week

While competition is a big part of the PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup, this annual start to PGA Championship Week is much bigger than bragging rights and trophies. Still, local knowledge paid dividends at the 2021 event, a 9-hole golf competition for military Veterans who have participated in the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program.
On spectacular Kiawah Island, camaraderie, countless fist bumps and big smiles lit up Osprey Point Golf Course, as 24 Veterans, alongside their PGA Member coaches, embraced the opportunity to play during a special day for golf.

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - The PGA announced it will limit the number of spectators on site for 2021 PGA Championship in May.
PGA officials will cap the number of fans to approximately 10,000 per day at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, according to a release.
“We’re excited to welcome spectators back to the PGA Championship this May in a way that is responsible and aligned with current South Carolina health protocols,” PGA of America President Jim Richerson said. “While we wish we could accommodate the sellout crowds who had purchased tickets, the 2021 PGA Championship will be steeped in gratitude as the best players in the world compete on the historic Ocean Course at Kiawah I

The PGA of America said on Tuesday it will allow distance-measuring devices to be used during competition at the three major tournaments it operates, including the PGA Championship.
The policy, which also allows for such devices to be used at the Women s PGA Championship and Senior PGA Championship, will debut with the May 20-23 PGA Championship that will be played at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
