budget, quite another to get it through congress as history has proved. big spending increases in this budget proposal but some serious cost cutting as well, first look at the big ticket items. more than $50 billion, $54 billion to be exact in defense spending, $42 would be go to department of defense, 2 billion and other agencies, department of veterans affairs because the president has promised to take care of veterans gets an increase of 6%, about $4.4 billion. also $1.5 billion to begin construction for the border wall. in order to pay for all of that with it increasing the deficit, the president had to do some cost cutting and a lot of the other agencies in the discretionary budget. this isn t just cutting, it is really slashing. let s take a look at the department of state. proposed 20% reduction in their budget, that is $10.1 billion. the epa would lose almost a third of its budget and calls for the elimination of 3200 positions. hhs gets a 17.9% haircut that is
you re trying to draw attention to is the idea of veterans who have fought for our country and then have been deported. it s as awful as i can imagine. we ve deported veterans who were here legally, who entered our military service, who served hopb raably, many of them highly decorated veterans who come home with higher post traumatic stress than many others and get into a little trouble, get into a bar fight. start drinking. get caught drinking or have an accident. and they get deported. these are american heroes who we are deporting. we should stop it. melissa: there are some people advocated the idea that if you fight for the country you automatically become a citizen. what do you think about that? if you are honorably discharged you deserve it. melissa: talk to me a little about your reaction to the budget. obviously it s just a blue print and there will be a lot of work ahead. what would you like to see

the u.n. foreign aid budget. are you worried that some of the most vulnerable people on earth will suffer as a result? we are absolutely reducing to the foreign aid and u.n., that should come to no surprise, the president said hundreds of times, i m going spend less money overseas and more money on people back home and exactly what we re doing with this budget. given your focus on dollar for dollar offsets in fisc fiscal 18, in 17 you didn t. why are you not adding for fiscal 2017? the question deals with the 2017 request which is a $30 billion i think it s billion and a half in there for the wall and not entirely
truth. secretary tillerson has had one diplomatic success on the deal he cut with iraq. this budget protects that core of the state department. it so much happens that the foreign aid that the president talked about, much of the money goes to climate research, green energy, are in the state department budget. if the line items were in the department of commerce, you would see the department commerce having gone down by a similarly large percentage. the answer to your question is, most of the cuts in the state department focus on foreign aid. yes, sir. yes. the budget showed a .8% decrease for nasa. but you ve also talked about in the administration using private companies like space x for more of that. so does this show some of this, is it going to be shifted to the private sector and does this show a commitment on the administration s part for its
