it offers a hint of what may have happened. tom costello covers aviationful he joins us from washington. tom, this is a story everyone has been talking about today. the internet has wloen blown up about it. this photograph was found in the national archives, and it appears to show someone who looks like earhart and her navigator, fred noonan, on a dock in the marshall islands. the history channel s team believes the photograph may have been taken by someone who was spying for the u.s. on japanese military activity in the pacific, and now we are seeing it for the first time. amelia earhart with navigator, fred noonan, took off, and was never heard from again. for 80 years, the world has wondered what happened to amelia earhart and her navigator, fred noonan. in july, 1937, they went on an around-the-world flight when they disappeared.
