Michael John Cosgrove worked in the role at the Wateredge Inn, just outside Ambleside, for many years. He died at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after a battle with cancer. Mr Cosgrove was born in Blackburn, the first-born son of Brian and Barbara. He attended Roe Lee Park Primary School and, after leaving secondary school, went on to train as a chef at Accrington Catering College. He was a talented and accomplished chef and moved to Ambleside in 1984, taking up the position as head chef at Wateredge, where he had a great fondness for the proprietors, Mr and Mrs Cowap. He was soon joined by younger sister Kathryn, who had followed in his footsteps in the catering industry, and they worked alongside each other for many years.
