Celebrating the One Million Stars Project in Kilkenny on International Women s Day

To mark International Womens Day the One Million Stars Ireland project will have a star installation at the Amber Women s Refuge and there will also be a number of star exhibitions at locations in Callan.
The project is a community arts initiative that connects through the craft of weaving stars and raises awareness of domestic violence.
The project was launched in Kilkenny in November 2019 and has already reached over 14,000 stars, following a successful exhibition of 10,000 stars at MacDonagh Junction for the 16 days of Activism. Kilkenny will celebrate International Women’s Day by having a star installation at Amber Women’s Refuge showing support for women affected by domestic abuse. 25 permanent jobs for Castlecomer and 100 jobs during construction of Aldi

25 new permanent jobs will be created in Castlecomer, following Kilkenny County Council granting planning permission to build a new Aldi store in the town.
Expected to open in 2022, the new store will create 100 jobs during the construction phase.
The new 1,315 sqm store will be located in the centre of Castlecomer, on the site of the town’s former Creamery. The site, vacant for several years, is being developed by Greenstripe Ltd., and will feature Aldi’s store as the anchor tenant, along with additional retail, office and residential units as part of the 52,500 square feet development. The Creamery’s historic mill building, a protected structure, will also be preserved and fully refurbished.
Mint Ladies launch Amber women’s refuge fundraiser

Mint Medispa by Pembroke Kilkenny has launched its Amber Women’s Refuge fundraiser raffle in a bid to support the service in Kilkenny.
Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge provides a refuge service which caters for women and children from Kilkenny and Carlow. Its mission is to empower women and children, of all cultures and backgrounds, to achieve their rights to live abuse-free lives. The service provides emergency short term refuge accommodation and support services including information, a 24-hour Helpline, outreach, court accompaniment, aftercare, awareness raising, group programmes, counselling and play therapy.
