Callan shines a light on domestic abuse with One Million Stars project Reporter: );   ); The local community in Callan are showcasing their work on the One Million Stars Project in premises around the town. In recent months people have been busy weaving and displaying stars to help raise awareness around domestic violence. Project lead, Siobhan McQuillan congratulated the many businesses and organisations who got involved. The community have been amazing under the co ordination of  Jess van Valkengoed, Family Support & Community Development Worker at Droichead Family Resource Centre. Droichead joined the Amber One Million Stars project and began  weaving groups in February, they are well are on their way to having 2000 stars, an amazing achievement and a testament to the community spirit in Callan.

A Stars to end Violence exhibition at Kilkenny Castle Reporter:   ); A Stars to End Violence Exhibition will take place at Kilkenny Castle from May 16 until June 7 for International Day of Light and International Day of Living in Peace Together. The Amber One Million Stars to End Violence Project is a community arts project that connects our community through the craft of weaving stars. The hand-woven stars represent light, hope and solidarity against all forms of violence. Star weaving workshops and star installations have been held to raise public awareness. The project began in Australia by artist and weaver Maryann Talia Pau and is now a global movement. Amber Women’s Refuge brought the project to Ireland and it continues to grow throughout the country.
