  From a woman posting prescription medication to a family member to a man with a stash of drug utensils, several Warwick residents were convicted of drug crimes in court this week.   Amanda Leigh Banks landed in hot water after a search of her mobile phone uncovered her attempts to source marijuana for her mother. Police raided the 31-year-old s Warwick home on August 24 last year, where text messages on her phone revealed arrangements to buy 0.5g of the drug weeks earlier on August 10. The Warwick Magistrates Court heard the mother-of-three was purchasing the marijuana for her mother, who would use it to self-medicate.

NAMED: Warwick drug offenders who faced court this week

A man who was busted dealing marijuana to his friends was just one of the Rose City residents who faced court for drug offences this week. The Warwick Magistrates Court heard police raided a Dragon St house on November 18 last year, where they found 6.5g of marijuana, a set of scales, and a bong belonging to Daniel Wayne Barnes. A search of the 40-year-old’s text and Facebook messages revealed he agreed to supply a small group of friends with marijuana between July 17, 2020 and the November raid. Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said Barnes’ dealings were never commercial and in small amounts worth $50-$100, with profits used to continue his own drug habit.

Premium Content Subscriber only A SOUTHERN Downs man claimed a bad mood was to blame for a violent outburst in which he pummelled walls and furniture until he broke his own hand. Police were called to a Stanthorpe address on September 23 where the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was living with his partner and her 11-year-old son. The Stanthorpe Magistrates Court heard the house was a mess when officers arrived, with holes in several walls and furniture smashed to pieces. Police prosecutor Ken Wiggan said the man s partner told police he woke up in a bad mood which quickly escalated to a tantrum , with him punching the walls and breaking several items.
