QUEZON CITY, Jan. 25 As part of the country’s continuing international defense security engagements, Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana received Ambassadors Koshikawa Kazuhiko of Japan, Peter MacArthur of Canada and Marat I. Pavlov of Russia, who rendered their introductory calls from January 13 to 14, 2021 at the Department of National Defense. He also engaged his Indonesian counterpart, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto via phone call.
Japanese Ambassador Koshikawa, during his visit, highlighted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of PH-Japan bilateral relations, noting how Japan has adopted several policy changes that promote mutual trust and confidence with the country as its strategic partner. The envoy likewise reiterated how their country contributed to the AFP’s Modernization Program through the transfer of defense equipment, such as the donation of TC-90 aircraft to the PN and UH-1H spare parts to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
