serves as the special representative for ukraine negotiations in 2017-19. he s also the former u.s. ambassador to nato. ambassador volcker, thanks for being here. i d like to begin with your reaction from what we heard from antony blinken who briefed from the secretary state talking about the 141 u.n. states that have condemned these actions by russia and also other in terms of the measures that have been taken. i want to get your reaction to what he had to say today. several things, russia has made itself a world pariah now but the unprovoked aggression and the brutality that they re going after civilian populations. it garners zero sympathy anywhere. russia is a global pariah as is vladimir putin. there s no going back on
stinger missiles is okay but at higher levels, they need more help. we have systems to deliver to them to help with that. there s a plan to deliver soviet made aircraft to ukraine that they would pick up in poland. that is essential. they need more assistance, they need more equipment. they deserve a right to defend themselves. the u.s. has equipment such as a-10 aircraft, which there are training ukrainian pilots. we could declare that and make it available to ukraine. martha: ambassador volcker, i want to know what you thought about what president biden said last night. a lot of supportive language for ukraine. a lot of people feel he could have been more specific and could have gone further in making it clearer that vladimir putin will not succeed in taking over ukraine. yes. several things there. i do want to say that his
