VIENTIANE, Jan. 25 (Vientiane Times/ANN): The Russian government has given the Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V to Laos, according to the Russian Embassy in Vientiane.
The vaccines were presented by Russian Ambassador Vladimir A. Kalinin to Deputy Minister of Health Associate Prof. Dr Phouthone Muongpak.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Health, Ambassador Kalinin said the vaccines were financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
Developed by the Gamaleya National Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology, the vaccine is 91.4 per cent effective in providing protection against Covid-19, he added.
