National leadership of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has rejected the result of the councillorship election for Ward 17 in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State in the Saturday, March 6 council polls.
But the party also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for a fair exercise and appealed to him to intervene by ensuring that the candidate of the NNPP, who allegedly won the election was declared to avoid any outbreak of violence in the area.
Briefing journalists on Monday in Abuja, the national Chairman of NNPP, Ambassador Agbo Major said that the councillorship position was more important to the party even more than the presidential election because it was closer to the grassroots than any other position.
The lnter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has condemned the abduction of unspecified number of students of Government Science College Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State, describing the action as "barbaric, senseless and irresponsible."

The Acting National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ambassador Agbo Major has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to address the House of Repsentatives on insecurity in the country as an insult on the nation’s democracy.
He said in a participatory democracy and where issues of national insecurity is at stake, if the President would not be able to appear before the House it should be with cogent reason rather flaunting impunity before Nigerians.
Speaking in Osogbo, Osun State Capital after the inauguration of the party executive in the state, he said the attitude of the President and his aides on the issue of appearance before the House of Representatives showed that the country’s democracy still has alot of problems.

The acting National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Ambassador Agbo Major, has called on the electorate to relegate the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party before the next general elections.
Speaking in Osogbo during the congress to elect new Osun state executives of the party, the NNPP boss also said a vibrant youth would be considered as the presidential standardbearer of the party.
He said, “That is why we are going around the country talking to Nigerians that by 2023, we don’t want to hear anything like APC or PDP because over 20 years of misrule is what has brought this country to where it is.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has congratulated Professor Manhood Yakubu on his swearing-in for a second tenure as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Agbo Major stated it is symbolic that his swearing-in came on a day that the Electoral Act amendment public hearing was conducted by the National Assembly.
“It is a wake-up call for him to pay greater attention to electoral reform particularly the deepening of technology in the electoral process as well as ensuring that every vote counts in Nigerian elections”.
He made remarkable progress in his first tenure and should endeavour to surpass that feat.
