Amazon addresses pee bottle denial tweet – TechCrunch

Amazon addresses pee bottle denial tweet Amazon kicked off the holiday weekend by backtracking slightly on a social media offensive that unfolded in the waning days of a historic unionization vote. The earlier  comments reportedly arrived as Jeff Bezos was pushing for a more aggressive strategy. Along with taking on Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, the Amazon News Twitter account went toe to toe with Congressman, Mark Pocan. The Wisconsin Democrat cited oft-reported stories of Amazon workers urinating in bottles in reaction to comments from Consumer CEO, Dave Clark. “You don’t really believe the peeing in bottles thing, do you?” the account asked. “If that were true, nobody would work for us. The truth is that we have over a million incredible employees around the world who are proud of what they do, and have great wages and health care from day one.”

Why is Amazon being so aggressive on social media? – HotAir

Why is Amazon being so aggressive on social media? Amazon’s bravado was startling for its message, but also because it represents a departure from expected online corporate behavior. On social media, brands have been evolving from public-relations automatons to your cool friends. When Walmart posts about a “moment of zen … brought to you by our spring stock up essentials,” it’s just doing vanilla-flavored marketing. But when Slim Jim, the beef-stick company, sasses Steak-umm, the frozen-beef-sheet seller, over supposedly subliminal 69s in a post, it is striving to embody a personality that might resonate with customers. Amazon’s straight-up aggression broke so much from these two common patterns that one Amazon engineer even submitted a support ticket, concerned that the Amazon News Twitter account had been hacked. It’s shocking to see a company act like an online troll instead.

WHO reports on Covid origin A World Health Organization (WHO) draft report has found that Covid-19 probably emerged through human contact with an animal, and likely started spreading no more than a month or two before it was noticed in December 2019. Other WHO theories over its origin include transmission from frozen or chilled food, or, in a less likely scenario, an accidental laboratory release. The WHO identified tracking the origins of Covid-19 as a “priority research area” back in February 2020, but “has been quick to temper expectations” about how quickly the project will be concluded, The Telegraph says.
