Worthington’s local option sales tax was initiated just over a year ago. While 2020 has been a year fraught with health and economic circumstances many have never before experienced, sales tax collections point to the strength and resilience of our local economy. The city’s 15-year or $25 million budget is tracking close to the projections we anticipated when we brought the question to the voters in 2018. Monthly sales tax collections for the last six months of 2020 have averaged just over $96,000, exceeding our budgeted projection of $94,800.
