Shooting threat shuts down Oak Park and River Forest High School-twice

Oak Park and River Forest High School was placed on a soft lockdown Wednesday after threats of shooting inside the school went viral on social media.Authorities said the threat was not credible. No one has been injured.The school was placed in “secure and teach” mode at around noon, officials said, meaning that no one could enter or leave the building, but teaching would proceed as normal.Police then received reports of shots fired and arrived at the scene.

River Forest struts with Pride during district event

Acceptance, love, and equality was the message shared by those attending River Forest District 90’s Pride Walk, which was held on Thursday, June 1 in partnership with the River Forest community. Attendees gathered at Village Hall, 400 Park Ave., to enjoy the flag raising. In attendance was Ken Johnson, River Forest trustee and co-chair of the village’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory group, who expressed the importance of the day and the efforts to create an inclusive community for everyone to feel accepted and safe.
