An 83-year-old grandmother was identified Wednesday as the first victim of Texas' Smokehouse Creek Fire, as the massive cluster of wildfires grows to become one of the largest in the Lone Star State's history.
It took just four days for a spark to become the largest wildfire ever seen in Texas. The Smokehouse Creek Fire that erupted Monday had spread to roughly 1.1 million acres on.
A grandmother has died in the Smokehouse Creek Fire, which is one of several fires burning in the Texas Panhandle. It began burning on Monday afternoon and is currently only 3% contained.
An 83-year-old grandmother in Hutchinson County is the first casualty of the Smokehouse Creek Fire, and a historic multi-million dollar ranch lost 80% of its grazing land.
