AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month and The Bridge Children Advocacy Center is started their awareness with a Pinwheel Ceremony.
Today, April 6, The Bridge, Amarillo Area Casa, and Family Support Services, along with The Bridge Multidisciplinary Agencies and local student groups gathered together and planted 1,109 whimsical pinwheels to honor 1,109 children who told their stories of abuse at The Bridge.
Everyone was encourages to wear blue at the ceremony to honor the Child Abuse Awareness month.
This is how local folks help out those who are in need.
Locally owned McDonald’s locations in Amarillo, Canyon, Dumas, Dalhart and Borger will be giving a portion of all purchases on Tuesday January 26 to Court Appointed Special Advocates, (
CASA) which serves hundreds of kids in the Amarillo community each year.
McDonald’s Gives Back Day was created during the onset of the Pandemic as a way to help panhandle area charities that are seeing a decline in donations due to COVID-19 and other economic factors.
