PATNA: In a major crackdown against illicit liquor smuggling, police seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 1.5 crore from Siwan, Vaishali, Sheikhpura and Katihar districts.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team seized a truck parked near a petrol pump on Chhapra-Siwan road under Sarai police outpost in the wee hours of Sunday. The search of the vehicle led to recovery of liquor worth Rs 1 crore.
Locals told the police that the truck was parked by the driver late on Friday night and the driver was waiting for the dealer to deliver the consignment. However, he escaped after seeing the police.

Five foreign nationals, all of them purportedly from Afghanistan, have been arrested after it was found they were staying in this north Bihar town with forged documents pertaining to their citizenship, a senior police officer said.
According to Amar Kant Jha, SDPO, Katihar, the matter came to light on Monday when one of the foreign nationals, named Ghulam, visited the police for some work and when asked about his own identity, divulged that he was a resident of Afghanistan.
