President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Kanat Bozumbayev, a former minister of energy as the new head of the Almaty region, the president’s press service reported. Bozumbayev is going to replace Amandyk Batalov, who served as akim (governor) of the region up until recently. The president has already signed all proper documents. “To appoint Kanat Bozumbayev to the post of governor of the Almaty region and discharge him from the position of an assistant to the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the president’s edict said.
