A historic and equally solemn occasion took place on Saturday as His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was laid to rest. The Queen’s husband was laid to rest after a ceremony was held for the Royal Family and viewers at home. A national moment of reflection took place and a Guard of Honour saluted as HRH Prince Philip’s coffin was carried onto the steps of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, one week after his death on April 9. The ceremony’s large military presence reflected the Duke of Edinburgh’s lifelong support of the country’s armed forces.
