Bedford Borough is looking to fill a vacant full-time police officer position.
Police Chief Craig Bowman requested approval to advertise for the vacancy during borough councilâs meeting Monday night.
The vacancy comes from the resignation of Officer Matthew Haight.
Bowman said the job will be advertised for two weeks. Applicants are required to have Act 120 clearances and will undergo a written test, physical agility test, medical examination, psychological examination and a background check.
Bowman said he would expect to fill the role within two months. The Bedford Police Department currently has four full-time officers and three part-time officers.
In separate action, Borough Manager Barbara Diehl updated council on salt usage during the winter months.
