The Government of Ontario says it will inject $2.5 million (USD $2 million) into the struggling Canadian music industry by investing in two non-profit groups.
The Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA) will receive $500,000 (USD $400,000) to aid the live industry all over the province,
Lisa MacLeod, Ontario’s Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture, announced today (March 12).
The provincial government will also provide $2 million (USD $1.6 million) in COVID-19 relief to the Unison Fund, the Canadian music industry’s emergency charity, which provides financial assistance and counseling services for musicians and industry members.
Amanda Power, Unison’s executive director, said over the past year the charity had received a 3,021% increase in applications for emergency financial aid and a 208% increase in urgent mental health crisis intervention calls.

March 12th, 2021, Ottawa: The Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA), and Music Canada welcome support received from Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries with today’s announcement of funding for the Unison Fund, Canada’s music industry charity and the CLMA, in support of the broader music community.
$2M to the Unison Fund
Funding to Unison will provide much-needed emergency assistance to artists, creators, and industry from local communities across Ontario. Artists and the broader live music ecology have been deeply impacted, and this vital support to Unison comes at a time when it is desperately needed.

directly he pointed the finger at russia. but he did call for an immediate cease-fire between russian separatists christi and victor. erin, i think it s important to bring in the statement from the u.n. ambassador amanda power. her words were firm but highlighting as many have it, this is a human tragedy. well, victor, that s right, she also pointed the finger at russia, but listen to how she did that. because of the technical complexity of the sa-11 it was unlikely that the separatists could effectively separate the system without assistance from knowledgeable personnel. thus, we cannot rule out assistance from russian personnel in operating the system. she also went on to say essentially members of the international community have warned that something bad was going to happen because this provocation of russia has not stopped, christi and victor.
