The Oregon-based nonprofit Earth Advantage has awarded six Central Oregon projects and builders with green building awards including Mike O'Neil, founder of Solaire Homes, who earned a lifetime achievement award for green building. Solaire was one of the first builders in the region to secure green building certifications from Earth Advantage –including LEED certifications and Zero Energy Scores –for homes they built."Under O'Neil's leadership, Solaire has been leading residential sustainable building efforts in Central Oregon," said RebeccaHeilig of Earth Advantage, a nonprofit that certifies green buildings. "Solaire's many low-and zero-energy homes help the region reduce its climate footprint, curtail energy demand and lower energy costs while building beautiful, high-quality homes." Mom and daughter registered nurses talk about being on pandemic front-line
Both are registered nurses at a hospital in Ann Arbor. Fortyfour-year-old Amanda works in the ICU, and her daughter, 25-year-old Miranda, who works in the in-patient unit, have witnessed the destructive effects of COVID-19 daily.
“It’s definitely a culture shock seeing people around my age group - that’s for sure,” Miranda Ingmire said.
