While the UK braces itself for widespread disruption at the hands of Storm Dennis this weekend, Joe Sheehan is surely one of the very few people ready to welcome the heavy rain with open arms.
“The wetter the better,” grinned Sheehan, manager of the Ipswich Town team heading north for a Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against holders Manchester City on Sunday.
Sheehan is looking for the weather to play a helping hand as he prepares his youthful side for a clash with a City squad packed with international talent, so much so that nine Lionesses featured for the Sky Blues as they defeated bottom club Bristol City 1-0 on Wednesday in a league fixture.
ITFC Women Draw Manchester City Away in FA Cup

Ipswich Town Women have been handed a plum tie away against FA Women’s Super League leaders and current holders Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The game will be played at the Etihad Campus on Sunday 16th February (KO 1pm).
The Tractor Girls are in round five for the first time in their history having beaten Huddersfield, who play in a division above the Blues, 4-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday. Town are the first fourth tier side to reach the fifth round.

Ipswich Town Women’s fairytale FA Cup journey continued as they beat Huddersfield Town of the division above 4-1 away to reach the fifth round for the first time in the club s history.
A first-half hat-trick from 16-year-old striker Maddie Biggs and a Natasha Thomas strike proved decisive as the Tractor Girls produced an electrifying display in the opening 45 minutes.
The hosts pulled one back early in the second half through top scorer Lucy Sowerby, but Town saw the game out to record their third FA Cup giant killing of the season, making them the first side from the fourth tier to reach the last 16 in the history of the women’s competition.
