Wednesday’s COVID-19 report from the Christian County Health Department showed an increase of 51 total cases, although the number of active cases in the county remained 100 for a third straight day.
Health Department Director Kayla Bebout said what she called a “significant number” of cases were reported to the state but not the local health department. She also said some of the additional cases are the result of Christian County residents who were tested at a medical provider in Tennessee, with those results not reported to the health department.
Bebout said as the number of local cases has decreased, health department staff has had time to recalculate the county’s numbers and compare them to those reported to the state. She said the missing cases range from the onset of the pandemic a year ago to this month.
