The CBI opposed the plea by Maharashtra government challenging the summons issued by the investigating agency to its chief secretary Sitaram Kunte and the present state DGP Sanjay Pande be quashed, saying that the government had no right to file the petition and that it was wholly misconceived and an attempt to interfere with its (CBI's) probe against former Maharashtra HM Anil Deshmukh.
The Bombay High Court on Friday refused to quash the summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in a case of alleged money laundering and corruption.
A division bench of justices Nitin Jamdar and Sarang Kotwal rejected the petition saying that Deshmukh had “failed to make out a case to quash the summons” and seeking that the investigating agency be directed not to take coercive action against him.
