Sri Lanka : UN assures to support Sri Lanka to obtain and administer COVID-19 vaccine

Dec 22, Colombo: The United Nations has assured Sri Lanka its support to obtain and administer the vaccine for COVID-19, the Prime Minister’s Office said Wednesday. The UN Resident Coordinator Hanna Singer has assured Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa the support of the UN for procuring, distributing and administering the vaccine for COVID-19 at a special meeting with the Prime Minister at Temple Trees today. The UN Resident Coordinator Hannah Singer, accompanied by World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Dr. Razia Pendse and UNICEF Representative Tim Sutton met with the Prime Minister Rajapaksa to discuss the UN’s critical support to government’s pandemic response.

REPORT ON COVID-19 VACCINE TO SUBJECT MINISTER TODAY

Share: COLOMBO (News 1st): The report compiled by the Committee of Specialists on COVID-19 Vaccine will be handed over to Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and Covid Disease Control, on Wednesday (Dec. 16). The report will contain recommendations on the best vaccine for COVID-19 available at present, the method of administration of the vaccine, clinical tests conducted on the vaccine, which is to be purchased, and other concerns, Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva, the Secretary to the Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and Covid Disease Control said. According to Ministry Secretary – Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva based on the report, a decision will be reached on rolling out the vaccine once available.
