A Senior Magistrate court sitting in Mararaba, Nasarawa State has adjourned the case of alleged criminal intimidation, conspiracy and assault filed by the Nigerian police against human rights lawyer Abdul Mahmud to December 6, 2023. The matter which was slated for hearing today (Wednesday) before Magistrate Hajia Aisha could not go on following a strange application by the police prosecution to further amend the charges in the First Information Report (FIR).
These accusations were made by the Executive Director of the RULAAC, Okechukwu Nwanguma, who has taken up the fight on behalf of Mahmud, called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to order a halt to the further harassment of Abdul Mahmud by the ACP.

A human rights advocacy organisation, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), has written to the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, asking him to investigate and caution an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Amabua Mohammed, over the alleged harassment of a public advocacy lawyer, Abdul Mahmud Aminu.
