Glass Avenue to reopen soon as culvert project is nearly completed
Construction on the $400,000 project began in December
The Glass Avenue culvert project in Byesville is expected to be completed this week.
In April 2018, a 75- to 100-year-old hand-laid brick culvert collapsed and a section of Glass Avenue between North Sixth Street and Meeks Avenue was closed.
Paving that section of roadway will take place later this month when temperatures are warmer and the road has had a chance to settle.
According to Byesville Village Administrator Brennan Dudley, the failure of the culvert caused significant undermining of the sidewalk and roadway. Additionally, it caused a gas main rupture which resulted in temporary service interruption for several residents.
