With the potential for a significant snowstorm later this week, Brockton-area school districts may have to make their first call on whether to cancel school.
But snow days are no exception to what will be different in 2020 amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic at least in most districts.
School districts throughout the Brockton area have been utilizing a hybrid model of learning, with part-time in-person instruction supplemented by remote learning since the beginning of the year. Brockton is the only local district that has remained fully remote since September.
Because districts are doing some remote learning on a daily basis and are able to quickly transition to fully remote learning in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak, switching to online learning when in-person classes need to be canceled becomes possible.
