The Young Stars of Moxie Talk Shooting in Oregon and Working with Amy Poehler

The riot grrrl dramedy drops March 3 on Netflix. By Reina Harwood 3/2/2021 at 2:00pm Hadley Robinson as Vivian in Moxie On March 3, Amy Poehler’s new film Moxie hits Netflix. (Based on a 2017 young adult novel by Jennifer Mathieu, it’s Poehler’s second directorial effort, following 2019’s Wine Country.) The opening scene takes place in a quiet pocket of Oregon trees. “It was beautiful. Very mossy and very rainy, as expected. Review: Netflix s Moxie Means Well but Falls Flat | POPSUGAR Entertainment

Review: Netflix s Moxie Means Well but Falls Flat I Love What Netflix s Moxie Was Trying to Do: I Just Don t Like How They Did It 13 Shares When Netflix announced they were adapting Moxie into a feature film, fans of Jennifer Mathieu s original novel were hype. Plus, it was Poehler s directorial debut, and I was very interested to see where her eye was as a director. Instead, what made people love the book seemed to fall flat when brought to life on screen.

Even before delivering her iconic line — “Tell me about it, stud” — it’s obvious she’s broken from her otherwise squeaky-clean reputation. It’s the big hair, the lit cigarette, and where Sandy’s demure cardigan sweater once sat, it’s the black leather moto jacket. The garment acts as a symbol of rebellion, just as it has on countless other film and TV characters for decades, even as definitions of and motives for resistance have changed. Take, for example, the timely flick,
