Rainbows in the Thornbury area took part in special online events to celebrate World Thinking Day. Held each year on February 22, the event is celebrated in 150 countries around the world by over 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. On this day, the birthday of founder Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Olave, Guiding and its impact on girls and young women is celebrated. This year’s theme was Stand Strong, Stand up and Stand Together for peacebuilding. Although they couldn’t all celebrate together this year, South West England Girlguiding organized a virtual sleepover where thousands were able to virtually visit all five of the The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts world centres, where activities included cooking local food, playing traditional games and building models of famous landmarks.
