The Peruvian National Police s Maneuver against Illegal Drug Trafficking Division members known as Los Sinchis de Mazamari found over 200 kg of cocaine underground in Nueva Esmeralda population center (Huanuco region) during an operation held on May 20-21, the Interior Ministry (Mininter) has reported.
The operation carried out by the Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro) relied on the support from the Armed Forces Intelligence and Joint Special Operations Command (CIOEC), which aid the police s fight against illicit drug trafficking.
Burrito 01 Operation enabled the seizure of drugs that were found in four undergrounds hideouts, which hosted polyethylene bags containing the illicit products.

After nearly seven months of follow-up, the Office of the Special Prosecutor for Illicit Drug-Trafficking Crimes of the Northwest Lima Prosecutorial District and the National Police of Peru seized 956 kilograms of high-purity cocaine hydrochloride in a clandestine camp in Cusco region.
Provincial Prosecutor Jorge Camargo, who was in charge of the mega-operation, pointed out that a group of people had arranged to transport the cocaine along bridle paths to a clandestine airstrip in Alto Picha, La Convencion Province (Cusco region), in order to send the drug to international markets via airplanes.
