Peru: Alto Mayo and Tarapoto receive WTTC s Safe Travels Stamp | News | ANDINA

Alto Mayo and Tarapoto, located in Peru s rainforest region of San Martin, have become safe destinations for tourists after receiving from Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Claudia Cornejo the Safe Travels Stamp awarded by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The issuance of this stamp certifies that both Alto Mayo and Tarapoto comply with the health measures and protocols to prevent COVID-19. The distinction, which is recognized around the world, was received by San Martin Region Governor Pedro Bogarin during a ceremony attended by entrepreneurs from the tourism industry. According to Minister Cornejo, the granting of this stamp which confirms the work carried out by regional and local authorities in cooperation with the private sector will allow both destinations to cement their position as important tourist attractions within the framework of the tourism sector s reactivation.
