A long-standing plan to build a multi-million pound health and social care hub at Tongue has reached a âsignificant milestoneâ despite fears raised last year that it was set to stall.
Highland Council has allocated £5 million funding in its capital plan for the new health complex, which would replace two small residential care homes in the area - Sinclair Court at Melvich and Caladh Sona at Talmine in addition to accommodating other health and social care services.

Three North Coast organisations are joining forces to push forward with a community buy-out of one of Sutherlandâs most historically significant sites.
North Sutherland Community Forest Trust (NSCFT) is linking with Bettyhill, Strathnaver and Altnaharra Community Council and Strathnaver Museum to progress the purchase of Rosal pre-clearance village and a surrounding area of woodland in Strathnaver.
Trust director Tim Curtis said the partnership had some exciting ideas for Rosal.
