Driver Identified In Semi Crash On I-70

Effingham, IL / Effingham Radio Dec 9, 2020 7:01 PM Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- On Wednesday December 9, 2020 at approximately 1:30 am, the Illinois State Police responded to a crash on I-70 eastbound at MP 92 exit ramp to I-57 southbound. A Semi ran off the left side of the ramp and overturned and was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.   The Coroner’s office was called and pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.  The driver was identified as Robert E. White, w/m, age 48, of Kiln, Mississippi. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.   The Coroner’s office transported Mr. Robert White to the morgue and notified the next of kin.  An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning at 9am at HSHS St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham to determine if a medical condition may have played a factor in the crash.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said the man was 48-year-old Robert E. White of Kiln, Mississippi. Rhodes said White was the only person in the vehicle. The crash happened about 1:30am on the ramp leading from Eastbound Interstate 70 to Southbound Interstate 57. The rig ran off the left side of the ramp and was fully engulfed in flames when emergency services reached the scene. An autopsy will be conducted this morning at HSHS St. Anthony s Memorial Hospital in Effingham to determine whether a medical condition might have been a factor in the crash.
