The Nottinghamshire-based logistics developer proposes demolishing the outdated Alpla UK warehouses on Bridge Street and creating a 120,000 sq ft replacement development.
The seven-acre site is currently occupied by Alpla UK, a plastic packaging manufacturer, but activities at the factory are being wound down, presenting Rula Developments with the opportunity to overhaul and modernise the site.
Alpla has another site in Golborne, a 147,000 sq ft unit on Stonecross Park a short distance away.
Rula has launched a consultation on its plans, which the company says could create around 150 jobs.
The proposals comprise employment space totalling 114,525 sq ft, with 6,200 sq ft of ancillary office space, along with enhanced landscaping and improvements to two access points off Bridge Street.
