JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â For most parents, a childâs extracurriculars have little impact on their day-to-day, but for Marty Jelleme, his daughterâs after-school programs changed his life.
Randi was a Junior Civitan at Johns Creek High School when she became involved with the Special Kâs.
The Special Kâs are a group of athletes with special needs, their coaches and partners, like Randi, from more than a dozen cities in North Fulton County. Partners are volunteers without special needs who play alongside the athletes.
The Special Kâs play sports ranging from bocce ball to cycling. Randi played on the basketball team with the athletes while her father often drove them to matches.
