BLM Alaska Seeks Comment on Alphabet Hills Prescribed Burn
GLENNALLEN, Alaska – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comments on the Environmental Analysis (EA) for an Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) proposal to burn about 53,000 acres of wildlands in the Alphabet Hills near the West Fork, Gulkana and Susitna Rivers to improve wildlife habitat.
ADF&G has requested use of the BLM-administered Gulkana National Wild and Scenic River as a natural boundary for the prescribed fire planned to be burned in a mosaic pattern to improve wildlife habitat.
Comments will be accepted through May 31 for the project, which is expected to begin this summer and may continue for several summers.
