SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A historic day for our country as many people stopped to watch the first female and woman of color be sworn in as vice president of the United States.
Kamala Harris is not only an HBCU grad but also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
âI have been off and on in tears, there is going to be a woman in the White House for the first time. Itâs so, itâs just so moving.â
Lee tweeted a photograph of herself sporting the pearls, saying she was given the pearls by Chisholm’s goddaughter.
On this historic day, I’m wearing Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm’s pearls, given to me by her goddaughter, who said that her godmother “would not want it any other way.”

Lee discussed the fashion choice in a brief phone interview with MSNBC s Joy Reid early Wednesday while attending the inauguration in the stands.
“I am wearing Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm’s pearls,” Lee said.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Vice President-elect Kamala Harris made her first trip to Georgia Monday since the November election to campaign alongside Georgia’s Democratic U.S. Senate candidates in Columbus.
Harris joined Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff at the Bibb Mill Event Center at a drive-up rally, encouraging supporters to vote in the January 5 runoffs early.
Harris canceled an appearance in Gwinnett County Monday due to the vote on the COVID-19 relief package.
