Fresh from his successful fiction debut, Macroom author and former school principal Con Lynch has embarked on a new writing project.
Masseytown-based Con raised a considerable amount of money for local charities from the proceeds of his first novel, Along The Right Path , which he self-published and launched last March, just before the pandemic took hold.
Now Con has embarked on the research for a new series of books which focus on the priests, brothers and nuns from Macroom and surrounding areas.
An initial survey has unearthed seventy seven names of clergy in the parish of Baile Mhúirne alone. These include several fascinating characters who served in many different roles all over Ireland and across the globe.
After spending almost 40 years as principal of a mid Cork national school, Baile Mhúirne man Con (Corneilus) Lynch has embarked on a new career.
And while Along The Right Path is not the first foray of the former Rylane National School headmaster in the self publishing world, it is his first novel.
The book traces the vastly dissimilar pathways to ordination and subsequent lives of two very dissimilar men.
The many tragedies in the life of one man leads him to the brink of alcoholism, wreck and ruin, though eventually - thanks to a caring guardian angel - he is led to walk along the right path.
