Allyzibeth Lamont murder: Blood-stained evidence found in hidden bags, state police investigator says | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 FULTON & SARATOGA COUNTIES – A state police investigator testifying Monday in the murder trial of Georgios Kakavelos said that plastic trash bags found at locations a co-defendant led police to contained clothing, gloves and other materials stained reddish-brown in a way “consistent with blood,” as well as the victim’s cellphone. The discoveries were made in Saratoga County. Kakavelos, 52, of Milton, is on trial in Saratoga County Court for first-degree murder in the Oct. 28, 2019, death of Allyzibeth Lamont, 22, who was one of his employees at the Local No. 9 Smokehouse and Substation in Johnstown. His co-defendant, James A. Duffy, gave a statement to police investigators on Oct. 31, 2019, and then led them to Lamont’s body and three other evidence sites in Saratoga County.

Kakavelos statements made police suspicious, investigator says | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Share1 BALLSTON SPA – Georgios Kakavelos was initially cooperative but then became less forthcoming during his first interview about the disappearance of employee Allyzibeth Lamont, raising suspicions, a state police investigator testified Tuesday in Saratoga County Court, The jury in Kakavelos’ trial for first-degree murder in connection with Lamont’s death saw a video recording of Kakavelos’ first interview at the Gloversville Police Department on Oct. 30, 2019, and also the recording of an interview the night of Oct. 31 – after Lamont’s body had been found, in a wet area off Northway Exit 13 in Saratoga County.

Prosecutors say Georgios Kakavelos was upset with 22-year-old Allyzibeth Lamont because she was planning to file a labor complaint against him for unpaid overtime. They also allege Kakavelos offered James Duffy money to beat Lamont to death with a baseball bat, but Kakavelos also joined the assault. Both men then dumped Lamont s body near the Northway in Malta. Duffy has already agreed to testify against Kakavelos, who could face life in prison if convicted.
