ATLANTA On top of the fuel shortages, we’ve also seen gas prices start to jump here in metro Atlanta, with the average price for a gallon of unleaded going up 30-cents from last week.
According to the analysts at Gas Buddy, the most we can hope for right now is for prices to stabilize. And we could see prices increase over the next couple of days. Scary news for drivers like Greg Everson in Gainesville, who said he had a case of sticker shock while gassing up on Wednesday.

DURHAM, N.C. - Gasoline is becoming a hot commodity in the southeastern U.S. as frustrated Americans desperately search to fill up their vehicles after a ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline, leading to long lines at gas stations and sparking governors to warn against panic buying.
How long will it take to re-supply the gas stations?
Gas stations are expected to receive product from the Colonial Pipeline by mid-day today. The system was restarted yesterday and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm tweeted things should return to normal by the end of the weekend.
Which states are affected?
Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia may be more heavily affected because they have limited options in terms of fuel transportation alternatives.
What happened?
The FBI said an online gang known as DarkSide struck the Colonial Pipeline system with a ransomware attack, which takes computerized systems hostage until a payment is made.
