WELLSBURG As crews proceed with the construction of a new Ohio River bridge south of Wellsburg, a local club is pursuing its own smaller project nearby and seeks the community’s input in accomplishing it.
Eric Fithyan, president of the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club, said the group is accepting items from individuals and groups for inclusion in a time capsule to be buried near an area of the Brooke County Pioneer Trail behind the Smith Oil station just south of Wellsburg.
He noted the site is not far from the temporary work area where crews with the Flatiron Corp. of Broomfield, Colo. have been building the 830-foot-long main span for the bridge.
